We’ve just done our first disimpaction for my 3 yr old. It took a month to get to the watery stage.we had what a think was a couple of rusty water poos , lots of gravy poos and then back to very loose porridge.
my question is this - if the blockage is cleared would we go from rusty water back to porridge / gravy or would we stay on rusty water?
I’m worried that we weren’t quite there and have started to reduce too soon...but I felt my son had enough and he was starting to look ill. (Really pale, spotty and shattered) and it was becoming more and more difficult to get the fluids in him.
I’ve winged it a bit and gone from 8 sachets & 4ml SP down the 6sachets and 3-75ml SP for the last 2 days. Eric told me to reduce to 4 immediately but experienced mums seem to say go slowly reducing by half a sachet ever couple of day I thought 6 was a happy medium.
It’s so confusing .....any advice appreciated

It sounds like you’re doing a great job. You know your child best. From what everyone says, there is no harm is reducing slowly; there is more harm in reducing quickly because there is more risk of your child blocking up again.
So difficult to know isn’t it... I think I’ll stick to 6 for a few days then drop to 5, 4 etc. He has his first apt with a gastro pead in August so hopefully they will be able to x ray and see what’s going in x
