disimpaction
No, not yet there because you need brown water and this still has a fair amount of solid poo in diaper. What is your current dose of movicol?
Hi no keep going it has to be like a cup of tea fluid. Keep going.
What I don’t understand though is how does it get like that for 24 hours if the child is still eating. Won’t the poo just keep on coming?
Yes poo will keep coming try and feed your child a liquid meal rather then lumps that is what I do .lots of weetabix and fluids hot drinks mine has after 7 days u should see it getting thinner without many lumps it took my daughter around 2 weeks with 12 sachets for the disimpaction to start working longest 2mths .up their fluids tooMy daughter wont eat much if she constipated.
It needs to be watery with no lumps. You can reach full disimpaction whilst they are eating normally. You aren't there yet, keep going.
thanks. Is it supposed to be clear? This is very watery but it’s brown. It’s the second poo of the morning. The one before it was thicker so you were all very right to say keep going. Of note, this poo smells HORRIBLE. Like a dead rat or something
If it smells bad it's old poo, keep going. It needs to look like clear tea. How many days have you been disimpacting for?
Thanks so much for taking the time to advise. The doc hasn’t been very helpful. You all have been much more informative. This is day 5. How long does it usually take? I think he’s been some degree of impacted since July looking back on it. He’s complaining of a sore tummy daily for the past 2 weeks. Still is but is eating again now. I took him to 4 doctors and no one thought he was constipated because he was having daily poo. Finally took him to the GI doc who said she felt something in his tummy. So new to this all.
Unfortunately it takes as long as is needed. I would work upto the maximum dose for their age until you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days then start reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one dose every few days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.
I’m giving my son the sachets in the morning. He’s having runny poo in the morning then small amounts of firmer po like this in the evening. Normal during disimpaction?
The max dose is 12 satchests per day
