5 year old daughter pooing
Hey, I don’t have much advice for you, but just to say I know exactly what you are going through.
My son ( also 5) has only just started using the toilet to poop. We tried everything, games, bribery, doctors ( to check there wasn’t anything medically wrong) a child councillor, literally everything to get him to go on the toilet. At one point I was so fed up I just refused him nappies ( Hugely regret that, ended in him withholding poop for a week, and then more of a problem with constipation. I still feel awful now) Whatever we tried did not work and he just refused. I was at my wits end and stressed about it.
One day I tried asking him to sit on the toilet but in a nappy ( we’d tried this numerous times before and he always refused) and he said yes. That was successful and I don’t know if he just gained confidence or he realised it wasn’t so bad that after a few more times doing that, I suggested we just go straight on the toilet, and he did it! I think, as frustrating as it is, I just needed to wait for him to be ready, and that just happened to be a bit later than ‘normal’.
Hang on in there! I honestly believe she will get there in her own time, as frustrating as this is. Just keep doing what you are doing and encouraging/ practicing etc.
I'm in the same situation and our boy is 6y8m. He just will not do it and I have never forced him incase he gets constipated. Another mum here had the same issue (check out my profile to find our thread) and her daughter finally did it aged 7. It's a choice they make themselves, I don't believe they can be forced.
