Alarms

I so wish I'd found this site sooner. I've got a (nearly) 16 year old son and a 12 year old daughter who are both still wet at night. We went to the GP (years ago now) for my son, and we're referred to the Bedwetting Clinic, but they didn't seem to be able to offer us any support - apart from medication that didn't work for him, or going on a waiting list for an alarm (which wasn't an option at the time). I've been reading other people's posts and they seem to have had scans and all sorts. Maybe we need to go back to the GP?

I only found this site as I was searching for bedwetting alarms. My son is desperate now to get this resolved (understandably). If anyone has any recommendations of what would work best, I'd love to hear them.

How much do they drink during the day? Do they completely empty when they go for a wee? Oh and constipation the guilty culprit until proven otherwise.

We try and make sure they drink enough, but there are days when I'm sure they don't. For my son, it really doesn't seem to make a difference, in fact, he can often be wet on the days when he has made sure he's drunk plenty of water during the day. My daughter does sometimes suffer from constipation, but my son says he doesn't (although he spends hours locked in the bathroom - apparently that's just to get away from us!).

I think you really need to look at constipation ad the route cause. They need to ensure they go to the toilet regularly ideally after every meal. Wetting during the day can be a sign of a full bowel pushing on the Bladder hence the accidents.

Thanks Yaleamanda. I'll look into this. It was never mentioned when we saw the GP and clinic before.
