I'm looking for some help please? My son went through a phase on constipation which resulted in him withholding his poo. We were prescribed movicol to use as and when required and things got better and we managed to get him potty trained.
All of a sudden the last two weeks his gone to have regular toilet accidents both pee and poo.
I noticed smearing on his pants so gave him high doses of movicol to clear any blockages. He's now having regular poos but doesn't recognise when he needs a pee or poo so is constantly having accidents. It's also starting to affect his behaviour at nursery.
Has one experienced anything simiakr able to offer any advice?

It sounds like you need to disimpact properly, then find a maintenance dose to keep him on. He is having accidents because he is impacted and this will in turn affect his behaviour. To disimpact you work up to the maximum dose for his age which is 8 sachets, you start by going up 2 every day and then stay there until you reach rusty water looking poo, once you do remain there for 3 consecutive days to ensure that the blockage has gone and then reduce very very slowly i.e. 8,8,8,7,7,7,6,6,6 until you reach a maintenance dose that produces type 4 stools on the Bristol Stool Chart. After a week if things arent moving you request a stimulant such a senna to add to the regime. this is all within the NICE guidelines that your Dr should follow.
