Paraffin oil? Desperate worried mummy :(

Hi I’m new, I’m glad I found this site I have been feeling stressed and pretty sad watching how much my 4 year old struggles with his bowels. Has anyone’s child tried paraffin oil ? Gp suggested I try this mixed with chocolate sauce. I’m in Nz seems to be very limited support. Waiting for paediatrician appointment in Feb. My sons bowel issues been going on for over 18 months - probably longer. Complete avoidance of wanting to sit on toilet, soiling and pooing in underwear is his only way of emptying his bowels.. Have been trying stool softener for 12 months, recently prescribed infant constipation droplets but not much change. Finding this very challenging to deal with :(

I have used paraffin oil. It’s a very old fashioned method and my son found it disgusting. Can you see a different doctor and get movicol or cosmocol prescribed?
