6 year old soiling daily

Hello, I have been referred here by our GP. My 6 year old is suffering from severe anxiety which is now causing him to soil himself daily. He also wets the bed but this isn't as bad as the soiling. It started around May this year but has become more regular and now is happening everyday, some days it can be 2-3 times a day. It has become such an issue that he has really bad 'nappy rash' on his bottom and we can barely leave the house and we don't know when he is going to do it. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thank you

Hi, we experienced something similar over lockdown and the soiling was caused by constipation, (possibly withholding) as the new poo overflows past the blockage at random and they can’t control it. I found metanium cream really helped with the rash. We were prescribed movicol to help clear the impacted poo that was causing the soiling but had no guidance from our gp till we found the ERIC website. If you haven’t watched the video on the website of the poo nurses explaining how to disimpact the old poo i’d really recommend giving it a watch as it really helped guide us on how to stop the soiling. It took a few weeks to start getting on top of things but we are now starting to turn a corner and the soiling has stopped.
