What age do you stop pull ups

Hi there - my daughter is turning 6 soon and wears pull ups at night as never dry. She started school in the summer and is now really conscious about it. We tried the alarm but she doesn’t like, she wants to not wear pull ups and just pants. What’s everyone’s thoughts? Is there an age we stop pull ups? Or just keep going until they get it?

unfortunately you will need to stop pull ups to give it a real go as some kids just never do get it & pull ups reduce the sensory cues that wake them up to wee. She's also motivated to stop them so that's a good thing. clinically they don't worry too much about nighttime wetting til after the age of 7 (it can be a hormone issue) so if you end up needing to seek NHS help its good to try without them now, as continence services will advise you to stop pull ups. my eldest became dry at night by 8 within 3-4 months after using the alarm , my youngest is now 8 & still wetting most nights as she constantly takes the alarm off as likes to sleep in the nude, however she also still wets in the day so she has other issues, & we are now on oxybutynin. we have always got them up for a wee when we go to bed to give them a fighting chance tho' officially you are told not to lift them, & this may well help your daughter if she doesn't have other continence issues. there are washable bed mats available on amazon that are really good which absorb smaller wees so at least you don't have to change the whole bed. as usual try to make sure she has the recommended fluid intake in the day & stop drinks at least 2 hrs before bed.

Thanks for your reply. Her nursery referred her to the hosp for a check as she goes to loo all the time so we are in touch with them already. She still dribbles a lot in the day - nothing that’s noticeable until I get a waft off wee! I think she has an over active bladder. She was given 21 days on oxybutynin 1 a day but then nothing changed so doctor stopped it but I’ve since been told she should maybe of had twice a day and for longer to try see if it helped. We tried pants last night but she woke this morning wet so she’s said she will try alarm again so we can get get cleaned straight away. I’ve got the mats from amazon already - they are great!
