Hi my son is 5 years old he won't poo on the toilet only in a pull up we have tried taking them away and sitting him on the toilet but he will just hold it in for days at a time he picked up potty training within a day and never has accidents it's just seems like he has a phobia about pooing in the toilet he says he can't push it out he's not constipated coz when he poos in a pull up it comes straight out, has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you sort it?

Can't poo on the toilet
It might be to do with the position he’s in - is he standing when he uses the pull up? He may find sitting on the loo is the wrong position for him. Is he using a squatty potty type stool so he’s able to squat on the loo in a good position?
Or he might find a good size potty easier than the loo for now (depending on his size and the size of the potty)
It can actually be a physical thing rather than a psychological thing.
Especially as he’s telling you he can’t push it out on the loo.
Hi, yeah he stands up to poo, I have a stool to rest his feet on I also tried him on the potty a couple of times but just won't he did say a couple of days ago he will sit on the potty I said I don't mind that if you don't want to use the toilet but wanted a pull up yesterday so will have to keep trying to encourage him but thank you.
