Hi all. My daughter is nearly 4 and is still not toilet trained. She goes to nursery and is dry all day until coming home. She stays dry until we put her a pull up on after tea time, when she then fills it. She is hearing impaired with a profound loss and is going to have implant surgery in two weeks. She also needs a sachet of movical a day as she can become painfully constipated. Any advice welcome. Should we wait till after surgery? Are we wrong to put a pull up on later in the day? Thanks in advance )

Hi Hayley. I hope your daughter's operation went well.
The bowel and the bladder are very closely linked, and children who are constipated are often are scared of their poos which can make them fearful of their wees as well. If you can get her poos sorted out first, you might find it helps a lot with her wees. Childhood constipation can be treated at home with Movicol which your GP can chat to you about, and we have a guide about it on our website. It uses more than 1 sachet a day and is very safe - eric.org.uk/how-to-treat-co...
Your not wrong to give her the pull up when she asks for it as we want her to be weeing and pooing rather than holding on. The most important thing is that you meet her where she is at and then when she is weeing and pooing regularly again, you can use some of our nurse's tried and tested methods for children who are scared of the potty - eric.org.uk/pdf-children-wh...
