If I went up to the parent of a child in a wheelchair and said ‘I can’t believe you haven’t taught them to walk! My child walked at 12 months. You’re so lazy’ I would probably be on every social media page and tabloid newspaper going! Quite rightly so. Because that would be cruel and stupid!

If someone says the same to parents of incontinent children, they have thousands agree with them. ( I saw that on a loose women article on the Eric page months ago. It was so upsetting. I couldn’t get over it) Discrimination against incontinent kids is allowed to go on. Even encouraged. Why?

One day will we live in a society where incontinent kids can be out and proud? I hope so. It’s like society is in denial. People think you can potty train all kids. But nobody thinks you can get all kids to walk, hear or see. Why do people think bladders and bowels always work?

I think people who judge incontinent people should be named and shamed.

Hi Poppymum - we completely agree, there should be less judgement around wee and poo problems, its not fair to blame children for their conditions. Have you called our Helpline before? We know exactly how you feel and are always happy to chat about things like this. All the best :)
