Nearly 5yr old claims he doesnt know when he needs to wee

My son has just started school, and every day he has had a wet accident. He claims he doesn't know or feel that he needs a wee? I don't know if this is the case or if he just doesn't want to miss out on something. I was happy to keep trying to get him to go to the toilet at school, but today he came home and said some of the other kids were calling him names 😥

Any help or advice would be gratefully received

Is he constipated? That can take away the feeling of needing to go to the toilet. My son was like that but he's much better now we've disimpacted him 5 times with Movicol. I would get him seen by a GP and get them to feel his tummy.

Thanks for the reply. He has quite regular bowel movements, but think I'm going to take him to the Doctors just to be on the safe side.

Its only his 2nd full week at school, and it broke my heart when he said the other kids had been picking on him

How are you getting on? My son is exactly the same... he as just started in Foundation and is having 2 or 3 wee accidents a day. We have been referred to a Urologist, I am wondering if he may have an overactive/ oversensitive bladder. Apparently he isn’t constipated as his tummy is soft but he does also have occasional poo accidents. He always says “I didn’t feel it” when questioned.
