Hi can sore or damaged bowels give you flushed hot cheeks? When bowels are emptied cheeks go back to sort of normal. Thanks.

Hi flowerlov.

It sounds like the cause of this might be that she is straining whilst having a poo, and straining can indicate constipation, which is a poo traffic jam that is blocking up the bowel.

Is she pooing large poos all at once, or having rabbit-dropping type poo? These are just two signs of constipation but there are many others and you may want to look at our pages on constipation to help you work out what is going on. If she is constipated, then Disimpaction using Macrogol laxatives would be the best way forward - call our helpline if you would like more information on this :).

Thank you for your reply. But my daughters cheeks are bright red up to the time she empties her bowels, she is not straining. I have to make sure my daughters bowels move along, she never has a hard poo, and she never strains to do a poo. Her red cheeks just flare up just before she needs to empty bowels? Some times for two whole days at a time, she also has hot cheeks. Spoken to everyone about this, I have kept dairy out now just in case. Would love some answers as it is just not right, something must be going on. Doctors dont know what it could be, consultant at hospital said it was nothing, not sure...Unbelievable that these experts cant give me answers, wish I had spare money, she would of been seen privately and sorted out by now. Thank you any way, but her red cheeks have nothing to do with straining. Many Thanks.

Hi Flowerlov. Sorry to hear you have not had many answers so far. Would you like to call our helpline? Her red cheeks may not be related to straining on the loo, but they could still be linked to her holding on to her poo. If you would like to call then we can ask all the right questions and help to work out if her red cheeks are poo related or not. Our freephone number is 0808 1699 949, and we are open today until 2pm.

Take care :)
