Are anybody's kids on movicol for constipation,?? My 4 year olds only had it a few days last week & this week as he doesn't like it but yesterday since about 7 o'clock he had 3 bursts of diarrhea on the toliet until bed at 9. He's also windy & moaning about belly ache, is this normal??

I would say that he doesn’t need it at this present moment in time. If he’s had large bowel movements and a good clear out (and you know he can’t be constipated), personally would give a break from it For a day or two. Too much movicol is not a good thing and each child varies on required dose

Does he need it as routine or did he just have a one off bought of constipation? How much has he been having?

Hey,

My three year old was on Movical for really bad constipation and I found that It took a while to find the perfect dose, I was either giving him too much and he had a bad stomach or too little abs he wasn’t going properly! I it took a while of trail and error to find the exact right amount for him! Also, he hated it, so I decided to buy a bottle of really nice ample and mango juice, put the right amount of juice with the medicaine and fed it to him through a syringe bit by bit, he seemed to like it that way and it got the movical in him! I know those juices are sugary but it was the best option for getting him to go to toilet! Hope this helps! Gd luck!

I agree that it is really hard to get the dose 'right'. In January my Bumble was so full of soft poo, that consultant reduced her dose but we added Senakot. My LG isn't a chocolate fan, but only takes the chocolate flavour & with milk added on top of the water. Just keep trying & know that there are others facing the same, xx

Has adding the senakot helped / made a noticeable difference? What dose does she have? We’ve used movicol for years but still have daily soiling but definitely just full of soft poo and so I’m convinced he’s needing something that gives more of an urge

Sorry for only replying now. When we made the changes in January, she did start having formed poos. It normally helps her go in the morning and then she might go again later in the day. We did also change the medication for overactive bladder in January, so that will have made a difference too. x
