7 year old practically terrified off toilets

Our son was bitten by a dog age 4 and a quarter and since then has suffered constipation and wets every day.

Even at school he would rather wet himself than go to a toilet.

He is on meds as he is CONSTIPATING himself.

We tried mild hypnosis as they cant put him under.

We are now at a pyscologist but she is working on self esteem !!

But he NEEDS to use the toilet.

He does at home but only with door open.

But outside ..... OMG !!

Its so so hard and no one will listen or take it seriously.

As he is getting older he WILL get bullied and that terrifies us ... but NOT him.

Has anyone got any experience of this and if so what in gods name helped or who ?

Hi my son isn’t afraid of toilets but has never ‘liked’ doing a poo and at one time would only pop in his pants. The work he has done with a therapist on his self esteem has really helped improve his attitude to the toilet. We’re not out of the woods yet but there has been a marked improvement. I can totally identify with your frustration and fear for the future as I have felt exactly the same way. The therapy did take a while to make an impact so all I would say is give it a bit of time.

Thanks. Would be helpful if they actually saw him though we feel !! They have seen him the last 3 times. Just us! X

I can see where you’re coming from there. We do have parent meetings but the bulk of the work is between him and his therapist. I know there isn’t one approach though, maybe raise it next time you go?

Yeah we go back 15th jan. So gonna phone them tomorrow and see if i can speak to them and see when he is to go back. And whats happening ! Thanx x
