Hello. I hope someone can help me! My son is 3.4 years old. The problems were started at the age of 2. He was very windy all the time. By the age of 3 he was windy and went for a poo every other day. In June, once, he had a very painful poo. And since then, he doesn't want to go to the toilet normally. We used Movicol, increased doses to unblock him. It worked quite well. He had a very watery poo last week and I decided to stop taking movicol. Everything worked quite well. He was happy for 3 days. And then suddenly everything came back!!! He misses just 1 poo , I started to give him Movicol again.. But it was too late. He is scared to go to the toilet again ((( I just wonder do we need to increase doses again until 8 sachets ? And how to make sure it is the right time to stop taking it? It seams we will never stop it ((
Constipation : Hello. I hope someone can help me! My... - ERIC
Constipation
She's unfortunately I have made this mistake in the past too. I'm afraid you have to start again. When you do try to reduce it one day do it a teaspoon at a time from the made up solution. It has to be done really slowly and is so difficult to get right. I wish you every luck. We've been going for over five years xx
Thank you so much!!! I hope one day we can stop taking it. What specialist is the best to see with our problem? GP doesn't really help a lot...
We saw a specialist at Benenden hospital in Kent but they've stopped doing a children's clinic there now. Ask your GP for a referral. It was so helpful to see people that really understood the issue, many GPs don't. There is a very good YouTube video by a nurse called Sandra Hanson. She works at Darenth Valley hospital. It's called tackling childhood constipation with macrogol(movicol). We found that senokot helps as well. I think in our case growing maturity helps as well although she's young for her age and it's been a long old process!! X
