Younger siblings...

Hi, I have a 4.5 year old who wets daily, and always has. We are seeing a paediatrician again soon.I have a younger daughter (almost 2), and am dreading potty training her in case she is the same!!! Part of me wants to start now so that at least I know! But i'm scared of having two incontinent children!

Does anyone know if these problems run in families or does anyone have a good experience of a younger sibling being absolutely fine?!

Hi my 10 year old wets the bed fairly regularly and was slow to potty train, started my youngest not long after she was 2 and she was really easy to potty train, very quick and has been dry every night since we came off night time nappies. She is 3 now anc been fine so looks like she doesn't have the same issues as her sister. Hopefully you'll have the same experience. Good luck.

Yes my 7 year old daughter has had continence issues since we started potty training her at 2.5yrs but her brothers aged 9 and 4 have been absolutely fine.

My 4.5 year old is the one with issues, ever since I potty trained her at 2.9 years. Her 3.5 year old brother is absolutely fine- potty trained himself at just over 2 much to my surprise and never has any accidents. Is also nearly dry at night, whereas my older daughter is nowhere near ready. X

My daughter is 7 and although she has been dry at night for 3 years she is wet every day. Toilet training aged nearly 3 seemed to go ok but she always had quite a lot of accidents. Aged 4-5 things seemed a bit better but then got worse and are a nightmare now. My son is nearly 5. I didn't even think about toilet training him as we were in the midst of daughters wet clothes, but aged nearly 3 he just kind of trained himself- once he started saying 'wee tumin now' or 'poo tumin now' we went to the loo, no potty or anything. out of nappies/pullups a couple of weeks later. He has been dry at night since his 3rd birthday and apart from a few accidents his first week at school he has no wee or poo accidents. I find it reassuring... maybe it means my daughter's issues aren't my fault!
