Right Side Only

I use the Trimix injections but I have noticed It only works on the right side and not the left side. Also is anyone aware of any urologists that specialise in penile treatment in the Los Angeles area.

FWIW, you're not alone, although for me, it's the "mirror image": works on the left side, but not the right. In my case, I brought it up with my primary care physician at last annual physical in Nov.; she thinks it *might* be related to some mild spinal stenosis revealed by an MRI, that is causing other instances where the nerves on the right side of my body (from lower spine downwards) seem less responsive than corresponding nerves on the left side.

So my situation is kind of an odd case, I guess, but just mentioning it FYI.

In my case it is/was reversed. Right worked great, left, not so much. It turned out that I wasn't in the correct place on the left side. I still "miss" from time to time, but am better after almost 5 years of doing it. Also, I know the surgeon got much closer to the nerves on the left and think they don't necessarily react as well.

How did you learn your placement on left wasn't quite correct? I have a followup appointment in about a month with the NP who originally taught me the ICI procedure - I'm trying to figure out what question(s) to ask her about this

The fact it wasn't working. I tried a few different spots. Also making sure I was getting into corpus cavernosum. Especially making sure I got blood flash, before injecting. I was having a tendency to go under it on the left side. Moved to the 10 o'clock position instead of 9. Even when right I don't get as good a result as on the right.

I noticed everytime I injected on the left was a miss. It never worked

The nerves are not needed for the injections to work. When stretching the penis out, turn at a 45 degree angle and then inject directly into the corpus cavernosum (the muscle part of your penis). I say, it is like putting a nail into the stud, if you do not hit the stud, nothing will happen. The needle has to go all the way into the muscle part of the penis, not just under the skin. It is important to alternate sides or scar tissue can occur.

Given that injections work even though clearly the nerves haven't yet healed after RP, that seems correct, that the nerves aren't needed. And yet -

When the NP taught me the injections, she said to do the injection and then, after that, begin the mental stimulation of intimacy which, she said, was necessary for the injections to have their max impact. And it seemed she was right: the injections started the firming process, but once my wife and I started to engage, the full (usable) erection appeared.

But I just don't get it: either the mind's input *is* or *is not* a factor, how could it be both? And if the mind's input is a factor, but the nerve paths post-prostatectomy are still broken, then how could that stimulation of intimacy have any extra effect at all accompanying the injection? Is there some other, "backdoor nerve route" that succeeds in transmitting a message to the pelvic area, perhaps one that's acting autonomously or subliminally? Still confused

The nerves that are needed to have an erection is different than the nerves that are needed for arousal. A man can have an orgasm without having an erection. My comment was men whose nerves are taken in surgery can still have an erection with the Trimix but they would be able to with Viagra/Cialis. Once you inject, you should grab and squeeze the penis for 1-2 minutes then massage for another 2-3 minutes.... then do whatever you want to do but having some form of arousal is helpful but not needed with the Trimix.

Not what you're looking for?
