Just thought to mention that Malecare runs a free online forum for Gay men with questions about erectile dysfunction. We're wondering if we should maintain that site or move those guys to the general ED community here on health unlocked. Please visit gayed.org and let me know what you think, in the replies below. Thanks!

It sure feels like the medical community doesnt acknowledge anyone but hetero males and their incredibly sexy women. Marketing is one thing, but my urologists both said no insurance will pay for anything but chemical therapies ( that dont work & often create more problems).

Gay ED info?...Dont think its optimized on Google. Thanks to your comment, i have hope .

gr8swim, you are correct. The medical community doesn't acknowledge anyone but hetero males. When straight doctors come across a gay guy with similar issues, the doctors look at me (us) like a deer looking at Headlights. LIKE DAHHHHH!... What is this? What do I say? Leaving us with isolation and not being able to fully disclosure our issues allowing for full medical support/treatment options. Some doctors may be aware, but most are not. I had one straight doctor who was a young Indian doctor (American born). He was like a Gandhi incarnate. My insurance company changed and he was no longer in the formulary, forcing me to change doctors. I had to change doctors 3 x in one year because they were horrible, uninformed, homophobic, and tortuously ignoring me, finding ways to get me in and out of the office. I reported them to the advantage health plan, who actively wrote them up, sent me letters that if their offices did not show them of giving diversity training inservice, they were going to drop them from their formulary--which is one of the largest in Arizona. MONEY TALKS. These doctors are more interested in money they their patients. Sadly so. It took threats of losing income/profit, to get them to do something about it. Do I think diversity training will change their attitude? I would like to this so. Reality? Probably not much..

Thanks for sharing that. I KNEW it wasnt my imagination... The weirdest part was trying to convince my practitioners that "Yes, i'm absolutely sure i am a homo", because they "never would have guessed". Definitely blocked out my leading with that info.

My most recent uro visit was to a doc who seemed cool about my sexuality. His entire office staff was female & he ordered $2K of tests on me: 4 hours of surreal room hopping & chart swapping.

Dr. concluded the only helpful therapy was Platelet Rich Plasma or something with injecting stem cells. No guarantees & no insurance coverage for $6K treatment. Might last 6 months.

Got disgusted with mainstream medicine...now i am trying alternative therapies.

Have gotten 6 electro- acupuncture dick treatments & supplementing citrulline to rebuild vascular health.

No solid boners yet, but sensation and size definitely returning. Ever so slowly.

Gr8swim thank you thank you for sharing. I never heard of platelet rich plasma stem cell injections for penal health. the only thing that seems to work for me with erections are penial injections. how are you doing now with your erections? Have they gotten better and if so what have you used if any?

Yes. Improvement. But my ED wasnt caused by surgery. My problems came on gradually & probably a combo of reactive depression & aging vascular.

I developed Peyonies ( scar tissue boner distortion) which depressed me even more. I was pretty happy with my dick prior to that...then it didnt look or feel anything like my tool.

After a year of bad medical "care", i finally found an electronic acupuncturist to give me weekly zaps. My priority is to repair the scar tissue. Anecdotal reports say it helps most guys with ED, too.

Its weird at first, but after 6 treatments my prick has regained some length & shape. Not much girth. Nowhere near fucking hard.

But the improved appearance & some sensitivity are fun.

Ps: i had an older boyfriend years ago who used the injectables. It was kind of like self-inflicted torture for him.

He had intense shame issues about gay sex. So the needles just added to the probs.

I suspect my ED began when i lost hope that i would find loving sex.

PS: Are you an architect/engineer or is your Vitruvius reference more cryptic?

I'm just curious bcuz my first uro noticed my arch. block printing & said "Nothing soft about your handwriting... Quite outstanding".

Guess he was trying to put the Imp in impotence.

I so want a sex/love life back. It is now going on over 5 years since I been with anyone or had sex of any sort. This ED thing, and the dating process has been horrific. I keep myself in shape at the gym 3x weekly but this does not appear to be enough to keep attention. Getting attention is not a problem, but what is the point, if when they find out, the ED thing is a deal breaker.
