Focal seizures

I had these on and off yesterday, about 10 throughout the day including 1 last night which woke me up. I also have been getting palpitations and shortness of breath with these. Went to gp yesterday who has requested blood tests.Im at the stage now where im panicking that something could be seriously wrong. My anxiety isnt helping either.

A question the gp asked me was, "Have i noticed any swelling in my legs", which i thought odd.

Im having to slowly increase keppra back to 750mg after weaning back down to 500mg since november. Im wondering whether weaning off has caused these focal seizures, as they seem to be occuring nearly every day for the past month or so.

I’m guessing that the question raised about swollen legs relates to blood pressure and/or heart issues. Some medications can result in these issues. God bless you! 🙏🏻🙏🏻💗💗

Thanks Linda, i feel absolutely awful today. Maybe im worrying too much about what could happen, but at the same time these focal seizures are happening regularly throughout the day. The last one around 10 minutes ago.

Hi Dawn,

From what I have read, these can be controlled with medication. Otherwise you run the risk of some memory loss. The neurologist should know whether your dosage should be adjusted or if you should be on a different med.

Thanks linda. Ive been weaning down from 750mg keppra to 500mg twice a day since november so im wondering whether that has caused the focal seizures. I am now increasing gradually back up to 750mg. Neurologist has suggested Lamotrigine but after researching it, im not keen on the severe side effects. I know not everyone has side effects but with already suffering with Psoriasis, the last thing i want to happen is tissue necrosis.
