Hi Anma22

Thank you for your post.

It maybe because Accutane (Isotretinoin) has a possible side-effect of convulsion. It’s listed as a very rare side-effect that means it may affect up to 1 in every 10,000 people.

Could your dermatologist talk to your epilepsy consultant to see if they come make a joint decision on the best treatment for you.

I was in the same boat. I tried every acne medicine and lotion I could find and none of it work for very long. Although, when I began playing soccer a lot over the summers as a teenager, I always noticed my face clearing up. This eventually prompted me to try something radical: embracing a paleo diet and physical lifestyle.

My face had never looked more radiant and healthier. I contributed my acne to a teenage diet of no veggies, junk food, lots of sugar, and lots of carbs from grains, such as cereal, white bread, and chips.

This diet works for me and for others -- but remember, it's important to know that everyone has a certain diet that works them, including ones that don't. I chose paleo because my friend suggested it, and it doesn't mean you have to try. In fact, any balanced diet that is low in sugar, contains no processed food, and is high in vegetables, healthy protein and fruit should contribute to healthier-looking skin.

Other things that might help too are reducing stress, cleanliness, getting some sun, and drinking plenty of water.

I know this wasn't the quick fix solution you were looking for, however, that medicine along with other acne prescriptions are extremely hard on the body and can cause major side effects. Medicine can be necessary at times when nothing works, including lifestyle changes, but I always try to avoid medicine at all costs. It's expensive and can cause side effects, and none of those are fun.

I hope this helps and you find something the works for you -- acne is never fun.

Good luck! :)
