I finally have an appointment with a gynaecologist tomorrow after nearly a year waiting for my doctor to take me seriously! They have already found PCOS through an ultrasound and I have very strong signs of having endo too- suffering all the pain and signed off work with naproxen and paracetamol for the pain!
Just want to make sure I make the most of the apt- Any advice really welcome!
Thanks,
K x

Hi there, finally your wait is over and youre in the system. The advice i would give is to make a list to present to the gynea. Write down all of your symptoms and pain, where it is when it is etc. Any questions you want answering write them down. Dont be afraid to ask, you need to come out feeling satisfied that you have answers. Youve waited long enough. Good luck and take your time. If you can take another pair of ears with you this is always beneficial as you can confirm conversations with them after.we dont always take it all in! Hope all goes well for you J x
Thanks jalo69. I am getting my list together this evening so I armed with all the info I need! And hopefully my mother in law to be will join me as another pair of ears! you are very right- I have to come out of there with answers and be strong!
I tried to be all passive and let the Dr do the talking and he said I don't think you have endo!
I asked why and he said "your story is not classic enough" so then I listed all the reasons why I thought I had it and he changed his mind and said he thought I had.
Am now nearly two weeks post first lap where I had endo diagnosed.
Trust your instinct it's how you have tot to where you are and question - they may be right, but you want to know why they are.
A good question is what do you think could be causing my pain?
There is a good questionaire on the endometriosis.uk website about preparing for consultations - it helped me loads.
Thanks Lillil. I've had a look at the questionnaire which is really helpful. It kind of feels like going for a job interview as I have so much to remember! You are so right- it's about knowing our own bodies and trusting instinct.
Good point about asking about the pain too!
Fingers crossed I will come out of the apt more informed and feeling more confident! Especially as it is private and I'm paying!!!!
