Electric Shock to ease period pain

Has anyone heard about this 'Device' that delivers an electric shock below the ear to help relieve period pain?

I read an article on it recently...

" Researchers at Harvard University are trialling the treatment on women with endometriosis. Endometriosis occurs when cells that usually line the womb are found elsewhere, such as the bowel and bladder. It affects around two million women in Britain. Not only does it cause discomfort but it can also affect fertility, as these cells can lead to inflammation and scarring.

Hormone treatment can help, and many women rely on painkillers.

The new treatment, which will be tested on 18 women, is placed just below the ear on the vagus nerve, which travels from the abdomen to the brain - the theory is that mild electric shocks help block pain signals.

Women will use the gadget for three weeks whenever they experience pain."

I think this sounds like a variation on a TENS machine which a lot of endo ladies find helpful. You can buy a TENS machine on Amazon
