Hi - I think you should ask to be referred to an Endo specialist consultant and be checked out properly and have your mind put at rest, or treated if need be. Pain killers will simply mask the symptoms.

I think your GP has, maybe unintentionally, fobbed you off with a

"go away, take some pain killers and hopefully you will go into early menopause'. It is the easy/cheapest option for them.

Often menopause does alleviate endo but not always, as some ladies who have taken hormones to induce menopause have found and been unpleasantly surprised to still have endo pain in some cases.

At 45 you could still have 7 years before menopause as it averages at age 52!

GPs, being general practitioners, and possibly not with a special interest or specialist knowledge re endo, often send you off to see a general gynae consultant as it is a "womens' thing'.

In my experience a general gynae cons has a wide field of knowledge and often specialising in a particular area, e.g.hysterectomy in the case of the one I saw (answer to everything . . despite I had endo everywhere in my abdomen and not mainly my uterus!) or some other specialist gynae area with endo often being a small string to their bow. Of course there will be some who have chosen endo as their main focus, but I still think it is best to ask to see an Endo specialist who has chosen to focus on treating endo.

If you feel the endo might have come back and it is affecting the quality of your life, you deserve better than being fobbed off with painkillers and wait for the menopause attitude.

I hope you will find that it is not endo come back and will get the advice and help you need from a specialist.

All very best wishes

Fran is absolutely right - you're being fobbed off and you have years that you need to consider here. You need *treatment*, not a handful more painkillers. You say it has "come back" - did you have successful treatment before? Is that something you could try again? There's quite a range of treatment options so you really want to pursue those. And definitely ditch the GP.

hi loubel,

yes i agree you are being fobbed off, I have stage 4 endo everywhere and I had my ovaries medically shut down by a Zoladex implant (injection every 28 days) I also started Liviel at same time, for first two weeks pain got much worse and I ended up on Morphine also had terrible night sweats and flushes but after two weeks pain just went and after four weeks no more sweats, i feel like a new person, it is something to consider. Only thing is i don't know how long you can have the injections for, your endo consultant may offer a hyster.

good luck,
