First post here but this forum is so helpful. I'm feeling very anxious. I've been on a waiting list to see the gynae and now I'm so confused about what to do/ask when I get there. History is; I'm 43. Diagnosed with endo in 20s. 2 laparoscopy's in 30s. Finally had the mirena which helped so much. Had 2 mirenas so had it for 10 years. Awful insertions but got through it just.
Came to have my 3rd mirena last year and my body must have changed/tilted as they've tried twice and each time it ended up being too low down after follow up scans. They did try a third time but the pain was so horrendous that my body went into shock and they had to stop.
For the last year, I've tried different pills, which have all made me crazy. But the periods I've had have been ok, usual bleurgh endo periods, brown, sticky etc Sorry. But they've been ok pain wise and not too heavy.
So tomorrow I have no idea whether to say I'll try doing nothing and see how I get on but I'm scared of it getting worse again. I'd love the mirena but I don't see how they can do it if the doctor can't 3 times.
Just so confused and don't want to waste appointment

You’ve got this bit as part of your history, make notes on symptoms, other history if you’ve left stuff out here, how it effects you daily, pain etc.
Don’t let them tell you you’re too old or menopause will happen soon and it’ll all disappear 🙄 I was diagnosed at 51.
They might suggest something like Zoladex which puts the body in menopause. It does work for some, didn’t for me, it wouldn’t have been a long term solution anyway.
Ask for an MRI so they can see what’s going on. They can do the Mirena under anaesthetic if you wanted to stick with that. Often read on forum how women have it inserted at lap checking for Endo, can’t see why they couldn’t do it. You might have fibroids and enlarged uterus which might be causing issues.
Also I’ve just been diagnosed aged 58 and 16 years post hysterectomy.
I would print out what you have said here, add other questions you might have and also add points moon maiden has suggested, and take it with you, that will at least give you a base to start from and a fail safe incase you go blank like I often do under pressure. Also take a pencil and notepad.
If you can also take someone with you, for support and to remember stuff they say, you might miss or forget.
The other suggestions are good here. I always get myself in a fluster at appointments so a really good idea to write it all down - bullet points if possible so they're easy to read (you can even give a copy then to your dr). I was offered (and I took!) Novasure endometrial ablation at the same time I had my endometriosis removed laparoscopically. You can look up info about it from (reputable) sites online and it's not for everyone (they won't do it if there's any chance you want any more children for example) but it's worked an absolute treat for me. Maybe that could be an option you discuss with the dr?
thank you for your support. I went fully armed with info. The consultant was really good. She did a hysteroscopy but gave me an anaesthetic injection and she gave me gas & air. It wasn't nice but it was bearable. She found a perforation which explains the failed mirena attempts. She was able to bypass this and get that mirena in so I'm hopeful it may stay put this time. Fingers crossed.
