Learning all I can

So I've always, always had painful periods, I'd lose all colour in my face, feel sick and often be found curled up in a ball crying. Just a note, I have a reasonable passion threshold so it takes alot to get like this. I've been to the Dr's a few times, they just put me on contraception and shoo me off, I thought this was all natural, some people just have painful periods and I'm just being over dramatic.

Fast forward about 10 years ago, my back went into spasm and after some health misdiagnosis they decided I had a UTI... I literally could not walk. This then flared up as sciatica, here have some pills and get on with it. Now every time my back flares up I pop along to the Dr's for some antibiotics because clearly... its a UTI.

Fast forward to this year, never really enjoyed sex, it's airways painful and I often bleed so I thought... you know what I'll go to the Dr's, they send me for an ultra sound and I have a cyst likely an endometrioma... come back in 12 weeks, 12 weeks go by yep it really does look like an endometrioma but it might not be endometriosis. Speak to your GP, reception team, oh you have an endometrioma probably caused by endometriosis, you need to book an appointment re symptom management...

So question 1, can I have an endometrioma without endometriosis?

And question 2 am I being silly being frustrated that I just keep seeming to either get fobbed off or not get given all of the necessary information?

Hi

Sorry you are having a rough time, it’s definitely not in your head. When you see GP get a referral to a Gynae who knows about Endo now it’s been confirmed. You are perfectly within your rights to get this referral and ask them to make it urgent to make up for lost time. Can you take someone with you?

I think an emdometrioma is endometriosis, but I’m sure someone will say if I’m wrong. It’s also known as chocolate cyst, I didn’t have those.

yes an endometrioma is endometriosis… in this case the uterine tissue is growing on the ovary.
