Duloxetine

Hello team,

Has anyone had duloxetine prescribed for pain management? I am struggling with side effects and having a big flare up after starting pro strap last week with add back hrt.

I have been taking for three weeks so expect the side effects to have settled. Wondering if anyone has had a good experience with it and if I should keep going really?

I have had amitriptyline in the past and found the nightmares intrusive, this was the other option offered by my gp. Feeling a bit lost and out of options.

Waiting for colorectal input after my lap.

Many thanks for your input as always

Bx

Hi there. I found it absolutely useless in all honesty and the side effects were awful. I work with gps and my colleagues told me it is widely regarded as an ineffective medication with very few patients experiencing benefits from it.If your pain is purely nerve pain then you may potentially see a difference but for me it did nothing.

If you don't get decent benefits ask to be given something else. Good luck x

I’m on it mainly as an anti-depressant but my medical team settled on it for it’s pain relieving properties. I haven’t noticed much of a difference at all in the pain, though it has helped settle my mental health a little

duloxitine is an anti drepressant, not pain relief!

I’ve read many different studies and overall it doesn’t seem to be effective for many but it is listed on the UK formulary for neuropathic pain.

It’s definitely not working for me so far

I started on it about 3 months ago. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my sciatic pain but no impact on endo pain at all. I felt dreadful for the first couple of weeks with terrible insomnia, fatigue, nausea and dizziness but mostly the side effects have become more manageable recently although I’m still not always sleeping well despite feeling very tired.

my Gp didn’t hear me today at my follow up and wants me to continue and review after 3 months.

Thanks for all your responses team 💕👯
