Hysterectomy

Hi all, I’m 45 (diagnosed with endo at 35) 3 laps later and I’m booked for a hysterectomy (taking everything ovaries and all)on 2nd July and I’m interested to hear any positive stories from any ladies who have gone through this.

I am aware that having this done will not cure me but I am out of options, so would love to hear from anyone who believes it has helped with their pain.

thanks ☺️

Hi

It did help with the pelvic pain, after what felt like an alien trying to get out the hysterectomy was a relief. I was diagnosed at 51 and had hysterectomy the same year. The constant pain had been happening for over a year at that point, but I’d managed bad periods up until that point.

I hope your op goes well and you get pain free 🙂

Thank you so much for your reply and kind wishes, I really appreciate it 💛 I have agonised over having a hysterectomy for a long time but don’t see the point of just having another laparoscopy and removal of endo as have had very little relief for very little time after the last 2.

I wish you well and hope you aren’t suffering too much at the minute 🥰

If you do go ahead try to make sure they’ll get rid of Endo and other adhesions as well to give yourself the best chance.

It’s not an easy decision, always told myself I’d never have one, it’s amazing how pain can make you change your mind 🤦‍♀️😂

100% best thing I ever did and I wish I’d done it sooner! Good luck with your op x

Hi

It's difficult decision if you don't have kids and you want and if you are younger as well. For me was an easy one, just after 2 operations for two years with, large fibroid, endometriosis stage 4 and heavy bleeding, chronic pain every day,in late perimenopause,I'm 45 this year, was not something I was considering, like you I couldn't just wait for another operation every year. So had my Total hysterectomy a month ago, currently on oestrogel, Utrogestan and recovering, is more painful than endometriosis excision or fibroid surgery, I won't lie,not sure if will help as it's still early, but I will probably know by week 12. Unfortunately 4 days after the operation was diagnosed with small blood cloth in my lungs ( probably from the previous operation)and been given Enoxaparin which made me bleed heavily with blood clots and needed to be hospitalised twice, but been out from the hospital now for almost a week and I'm fine. 🤞 I've heard such a horrible stories, but just don't listen to them as we all different, so just go for it and fingers crossed. Happy to update you in a month. I'm praying for this to help you. I will know hopefully soon xx
