I’m at the stage where I’m thinking about getting a hysterectomy because I just can’t take the pain anymore. The only thing stopping me is children. However, I don’t think I could ever bring a baby girl into the world thinking she could grow up with this condition it would break my heart everyday. I have researched that you can do gender selection with IVF in the uk for medical reasons but that list of medical reasons I cannot find anywhere. Does anyone know if endometriosis is an allowable medical condition to select the gender through IVF?
Thanks

There's no certainty that a girl would have it. I have a teenage daughter and it plays on my mind. She's nearly 15 and she's had periods since 12 and all ok for now but I didn't have any issues until mid-30s. I've spoken to her about it and she's asked if she will get it as well. We've had an honest talk about it and she's completely fine with it. We have said at least we would know signs to look out for, the right people to go to and to try and get ahead of it instead of being on the back foot. I understand the guilt but there are so many potential hereditary conditions of differing kinds, people passing on cancer markers or genes, diabetes etc that I don't think you can think about it in that way. I have no idea if it is possible or not via IVF, but I'm just trying to say please don't let that mindset consume you about it or stop you having a child if it's a possibility x
No problem at all. Also do remember that there are medical advances all the time. So much research could happen in the next couple of decades and it may not really be an issue if they find a way to treat, prevent or cure it.
