is it normal to experience lots of bloating after a transvaginal ultrasound? I has my first one today (ow!) Also, i was told by the technicians that my tv and abdominal scans both looked normal other than enlarged ovaries (expected as i have pcos). They said this indicates that i do not have endometriosis and i am now very confused because the gynaecologist who refered me for the scan was convinced that i have endo based on my symptoms. Is it possible endo may not have showed on the scan due to being on my period?would it be worth having another scan when im not on my period, or does it not make a difference in how clear the ultrasound is?
thank you

It doesn't mean you don't have endometriosis or even adenomyosis it just means they can't see it on the small area they scanned. This is actually common.
They'll normally allow it if you feel like symptoms relate to bowel endometriosis, if you have painful bowel movements during periods. That's what the gynae doctor asked me when I mentioned about MRI, and I said yes and when I did get the MRI it did show up!
Hi lovely firstly sorry to hear about your experience with the ultrasound. I had my internel scan done in November and it didn't show endometriosis either and my gynaecologist reffered me based on my symptoms as well. The only thing my scan did show was a cyst on right ovary. I'm still on waiting list for surgery because off the pain. Can you request your Dr to put you on a waiting list for surgery? It's awful as most Dr's don't even know what endometriosis looks like and it takes a specialist to understand and know based on your symptoms. I would keep pushing as you know your own body. Don't let them fob you off. I hope you get sorted 🙏 xx
I think everyone's body reacts differently to things like this for me personally I didn't bloat but it did cause me to experience spasms and pain for the day and night after having it done, very uncomfortable!
As for the scan showing endo it doesn't always show up on scans. The only way to diagnoses endometriosis is surgery and even then it can be missed! If your gynecologist thinks it's endometriosis you could discuss with her about what steps to do now the scans been done she might suggest surgery as an option for you! Xx
hi , sorry to hear about your difficulties . I have endo adeno and cysts . The ultrasound showed the cysts but not the endo , this was picked up on an mri . I had awful bloating after my last transvaginal scan
