Hi. First Post! It's just a quick question. Can you have symptoms of endometriosis, actually still have it, after you've been through the menopause?

Thank you 😊

Yes, I’m afraid so. Endo can still be active after you stop menstruating, and fibrosis caused by the endo can also continue to give you pain. I’m now 67, still on strong pain relief.

A lot of doctors will tell you that it stops after menopause though, despite recent research.

Thank you. I'm sorry you are still experiencing the pain. Do the painkillers help?I thought it was all over so perhaps my new symptoms is this returning or flaring.

Can I access this research?

I just used Google! The most recent European guidelines (ESHRE Ithink) make reference to endo post menopause. The pain killers do help, yes, thanks.

Yes. There is a research text from Harvard University that discuss this. I found it on the internet a few years ago. You could give it to your GPs/Practice Manager.

I believe you can my consultant said even if I have a hysterectomy it could still be there and cause pain, come back. It can initially work then pain within 2/3 months.

Thank you. I understand that the scarring from earlier endometriosis can cause issues if endometriosis doesn't flare up again.
