So I’ll try and sum things up briefly. So I have pretty much all the symptoms of endo but two surgeries came back clear. I was made to feel like I’m going crazy and I’m imagining all the pain. Anyway, I begged for an MRI scan which showed 4.7cm cyst on my left ovary. They want to do an ultrasound in 3 months time to see if it’s a haemorrhagic cyst (which often goes by itself) or if it’s endometrioma (endometriosis within the ovary). I have had lots of ovarian cysts before and a lot of the time they twist etc. and it’s always caused me a lot of pain. My question is if it is endo in my ovary could there be endo hiding behind my womb etc. like would it be hidden in other places aswell as in my ovary? Has anyone else found out they have endo this way? I know this isn’t a proper diagnosis until I have the ultrasound / surgery but just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same as me. I’m 99.9% sure I’ve had a ‘chocolate cyst’ before but it’s just never been looked into but that could of been a sign of endo in the ovary…

I had an ultrasound first and the sonographer said straight away that I had what looked like endometrial cysts on my right ovary and large abnormalities and signs of damage to my left one. I was then referred for an MRI which confirmed this and stage 4 endo with bowel adhesion and several other large cysts behind the womb. So an ultrasound can definitely pick up cysts and potentially differentiate between endometriosis and other cysts.
I was told I had a functional cyst that goes away on its own but as my endo was severe it never showed up on internal scans for me at all it showed something like a very small mass but nothing to prove why I was in severe pain. It was only through the lap for me it was endometriosis had a huge endometrioma and a frozen pelvis cavity with all my organs stuck. So for me by having the lap it showed it for me and then had to have mri as they wanted to know how badly everything was in my bowel to know how much bowel needs to be removed and resectioned. I honestly wished it could have been seen but for me normal scans never showed anything really. As I was always told functional cyst that every women gets in there cycle and then I was told a cyst had miraculous disappeared. So I didn’t need my ovary and this other cyst removed. Little did they know it was actually hiding 🙈 and still there. So for me the scans never showed up anything apart from my mri which shows deep infiltrated endometriosis which confirmed what the gynea consultant could see from my lap.. xx will be hoping you get the answers and results you need. Xx
