Pain a few weeks after lap

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis and Adenomyosis and have excision surgery six weeks ago. The endo was on the ovaries, bowel and pouch of Douglas and the surgeons were pleased that it was all removed. They also got rid of large cysts on both ovaries and un-stuck (for want of a better word) some of my organs from each other. The Adenomyosis wasn’t treated as I may still want children and it doesn’t seem to cause me that many problems anyway.

At first I was really pleased with how it went . My stomach was much flatter (probably due to the removal of the cysts). My first period after the lap was very very heavy but only lasted three days. However, since that period ended I’ve had a persistent ache in my lower abdomen and pain in my right groin. I don’t know if this is surgery pain (reignited by the period) or if it’s endo coming back. Can it happen that quickly after surgery?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, it sounds like you’ve had a lot of work done during your surgery, and it’s still relatively early days. The pain could be your body healing. My excision surgery was very minor compared to yours, and I was just about pain-free (apart from ovulation and period) at 6 weeks x

Thank you so much for replying. You’re right it is still early days so hopefully it’s pain caused by things healing x
