endometriosis removed from bowel

hello. I am just wondering if anyone else had problems with their bowel after surgery? I had surgery 6 weeks ago and they found endometriosis growing on my bowel which they cauterised, they also freed my bowel as it was attached to my uterosacrel ligament, but I felt okay after surgery but at about 2 weeks after I started struggling with cramps and needing the toilet, so if I eat anything I get cramps and need the toilet and this has been going on since two week mark and doctors aren’t helping me. Has anyone had endometriosis removed from the bowel and had something similar?

Hi Sweet Sparrow, hope you are recovering well from your surgery otherwise except for the bowel issues :(... in my 3rd surgery I had a similar issue where my bowel had lesions and was attached to the back of my womb. I have a lot of issues between cramps, diarrhea and constipation and I think it takes a but of time after surgery especially if it's had a bit of trauma to it to detach. I found a low fodmap diet helped things settle a bit although it is quite hard to get in the swing of, it does help. I have had another mri scan recently and unfortunately it has happened again. Hopefully it eases soon for you, if it doesn't I would try and get in touch with the consultant again or the surgeon to get some more advice?

Thankyou so much for replying! Oh really? Well I actually had infected stitches also so it’s been a rollercoaster 🙈 The cramps are horrendous atm 😩 Thankyou so much I just wanted to know if it’s normal as nobody at doctors can tell me 😔 I am meant to be having a 6 weeks check up but apparently I missed it even tho I didn’t know about it 🙃 so I’ve got to wait another two weeks to see someone 😔

Oh god, I bet... it is horrendous, and the first period after surgery too is a joy 😐... it does get better though I promise! I had to call the hospital to ask if the cramps were normal cos I was so concerned they were worse than before surgery! Hopefully you get better again before your next app... Good to know your appt has been and gone without anyone bothering to tell you about it!!!

I had my first period a week ago and I thought it explained all the pain but it’s ended now and I’m still in the same pain and discomfort 😩 Thankyou! I have rang the hospital this morning and waiting for a call back to find out if my symptoms are normal for my surgery as drs have no clue! I know right! Thankyou for telling me your experience it helps put my mind at ease!

After my lap I struggled even more with my bowels as I was very constipated but then I suffered with sepsis after and was in hospital.

I'm suffering with constipation after surgery and struggle to get anything moving without laxatives which then causes urgency. Trying to eat gluten and dairy free which does help a bit.
