A Little Lost ...

I've just had a hospital appointment after waiting months for a referral, and been told I'll need to have an MRI scan (& wait 3 months) to see what's really going on. Have endo and 2 laparoscopy's from 2015 and 2018, but since coming off the pill 6 months ago I feel even worse than before. Uncomfortable from morning till night, wearing sizes up in clothing, tired and yet can't sleep, constantly aware of my endo belly and no self esteem. I'm so up and down. At the hospital today I could have cried when the doctor said she didn't have my hospital notes, my GP notes, and just used a scrap piece of paper to write down my medical history before asking did I want to go on the pill/coil and have I tried acupuncture.

I'm in this middle of the road place where I'm 34 and don't have (and don't know if I want) children, so the advice I get is always just to go back to pill/coil and painkillers. I've been on contraception since I was 17, I want to give my body a break from it. I'm trying to motivate myself back into regular exercise, good or better diet, walking, and keeping up with social activities, but it's all getting overwhelming and I really am just getting sick of feeling so uncomfortable all the time.

This is mostly a rant but if anyone else feels like they're in this stuck space, unsure of what to do, it would be good to know I'm not alone!

Sorry to sound brutal but you really need to consider fertility: if you don’t want children ever then that’s absolutely fine (I would in that case consider asking for a lap and then the coil) but if you think you might want children you do need to consider that seriously. You could always ask them for some basic fertility investigations to see where you stand, or look to trying naturally etc.

If you don’t want anything that is hormonal then there aren’t many options unfortunately: other than another lap, pain relief and alternative options like acupuncture (may not be covered in the NHS area you are in, it’s hit and Miss) or the endo diet (which you would have to do yourself).

I know it’s hard, I am in a similar position in that I want another baby, so there isn’t anything I can have other than things to try and help manage my symptoms.

Hugs Lost 🫶🏼.

It’s not good enough.

While your putting through for a new appt ( firmly worded) , please ensure next time you take someone burly with you to enforce necessary further investigations and to be taken seriously have a look at these to help manage.

@corerecoverypt does a great talk with @leahbrueg on the latters podcast ( 57/52?)

@healendo and her books Heal Endo and her 4 weeks recipe book to help soothe. Especially take note of her sections on Omega 3 🌸

Quick reply but keep going xx
