Hi all - I know this will be so unique to the individual and will seek help from my GP when I come to make a decision, but just trying to get a general opinion on experiences with hormonal treatment.
I had my Mirena coil taken out two years ago when I was diagnosed as it was not sitting properly due to the shape of my uterus - the coil doesn't work well for me and causes more pain. My partner and I had also decided to start trying for a baby so I didn't pursue any hormonal options. We have now decided to pause on that and I'd like to get my symptoms more under control.
I have been doing pelvic physio and accupuncuture which has helped a fair bit, but I'm starting to wonder if supressing ovulation could be a real help. I often suffer the whole week before ovulation which is when I know people should typically be experiencing higher energy / less pain. Mostly it's a dull ache and extreme fatigue - so I don't even find pain meds does much to help with this?
I think my options would either be the implant or the mini pill as I suspect non-estrogen is best? Does anyone have any experiences to share and whether this helped reduce the through the month pains and aches?
Thanks in advance!

Please be aware this comment is made with a smile but it's 2nd hand from a grand dad of 5. First 2 grand kids are in their teens they aren't part of the story. This grand dad has a daughter who was having period problems during covid and she wanted the implant but couldn't get it due to covid restrictions so she was put on the pill. Through that time on the pill she now has a 3 year old boy and twins (one boy and one girl) all conceived while on the pill.😁 it was the twins birthday start of July. So if you want to try getting your periods sorted and want to have children I felt this lady's experience relates far more than mine.
Personally I suspect I got pregnant and miscarried when my depo injections weren't being administered on time, so if you only want a little break of 3 months to get your strength back depo provera might be what you want. I don't know if you know but once you've had the injection, if it doesn't suit you, it's stuck in your system and it can cause low mood and bleeding during and after sex.
After being on combined pill, and progesterone only implanon.. and having both messing up so many other things for me (skin, sex drive, mood, causing borderline anemia etc.), and my concern not being taken seriously by NHS nurses and doctors - my advice is please please read a book by Dr Sara Gottfried called 'The Hormone Cure'. It will open your mind so much about the female hormones, and possibly help you to guide you to right solution for you. As well as how to advocate for yourself next time you see your GP/gynaecologist.
Just a comment on the progesterone implant, you can get it in tablet form, which allows you to see if it suits you. Some people find it affects their mood, personally I found it great.
