I was on prostap for over 2 years and have been on that combined with hrt for about 18 months while i await a lap which I have booked on 6th July. I had a bone density scan in January and have just received a letter from my consultant. They have said I must stop the prostap immediately as the scan has shown I now have osteopenia from the prostap. There was no mention of what to do about my hrt. Should I continue to take it until I see the consultant on 6th? I’m not sure what to do for the best. I get pre op bloods taken in the gynae dept on 30th so can ask then but don’t know if the nurses will be able to advise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am only in menopause due to the prostap so doesn’t seem much point taking hrt without prostap.

I was on ProStap a few years ago and I had to stop it quite abruptly too, my memory is a little hazy but I think I had to continue the hrt for about 3 weeks. Perhaps you could check with your GP to see what their advice is. Sorry, Wishing you all the best with your surgery and onward recovery.
Im currently awaiting surgery and have been for a year now. Im on my second round of prostap and got told I have osteopenia on my bone density scan a couple of months ago. My consultant said he is happy for me to continue as I am also on tibolone but I suppose it’s a sliding scale of osteopenia? Worth finding out exactly where you are. Try not to worry lovely but arm yourself with all the info and go from there x
