Hysterectomy advice

Hello all,

I have been off of Zoladex for around 6 months and went for some more in-depth scans a couple of weeks ago which showed severe damage to both ovaries (specifically however the left ovary is not having a good time) and lots of fibroids, cysts and sticky tissue.

Consultant call today has given me a pathway to follow, which is amazing, but also really scary.

The options now for me will be to go back on Zoladex asap and be put on the waiting list for surgery. The surgery is my choice of either laparoscopy to try and put a plaster on the issues, or a partial hysterectomy removing my uterus to try and provide a bigger fix.

Has anyone here had a partial hysterectomy and can give me any advice on what to expect? Specifically how recovery was after the operation and how life is treating you now you have had it done.

Big decisions to make my end and just want to make sure, as I am only 34, that I am making the right ones!

Thanks :)

Hi Spangalow07 I had a hysterectomy taking everything but the overies mine was abdominal surgery which is like a C-section but they can take it out vaginally I had too much scar tissue to have it this way recovery for me was slow I'm not sure if this is because I had a car accident 5 weeks after surgery (in the passenger seat as I couldn't drive I was still in recovery) but vaginally is supposed to be faster recovery, my endo come straight back as they say the overies feed the endo, with you having fibroids too it may be best to have the hysterectomy as they are painful in themselves and keep growing in the uterus, I am now on prostap injections and waiting for more surgery to take my overies out this time, Im not sure what parts they are taking out of you but leaving my overies didn't do me much good but it will work for your fibroids I hope you find the right decision for yourself and have a speedy recovery, and are pain free soon take care xx
