Hi 👋

I was on Prostap injections with Tibolone HRT for 4.5 years. My surgeon only let me stay on them for that long because it took my HRT religiously and went for bone density scans. Eventually the injections started wearing off more and more quickly. I've just had a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy as my surgeon didn't want to remove my womb.

Wow that's along time . Do u have monthly or 3 monthly injections?

They were 3 monthly injections :) not everyone gets along with Prostap but I can honestly say they saved my life - I was in a very dark place before them and they made me feel 100% normal again. But I think I'm quite lucky with regards to no side effects!

I'm not getting along with it tbh . Got every side affect going and I'm on every 4 week injections . Got my 3rd injection on Wednesday and just had my pre op letter tho for the 14th August for a full hysterectomy. I'm also getting really bad brusing . Did u get it ??

How are u feeling in yourself now

No I didn't get anything once I was taking the Tibolone apongside to be honest. I'm getting on alright now but after my surgery I have ended up with a hypertonic pelvic floor from doing the kegels they recommended (I've never had kids and I'm only 28, so didn't need to do them really). So now it pretty much feels like I have a constant UTI - it's horrid!

I've just had my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, one of my ovaries was stuck to my bowel as well so I think he also got rid of some adhesions.

And it's just a case of stretching every day, swapping between sitting and standing regularly, getting my bloating and digestion in order, and also meditating to get my sympathetic nervous system to switch off 😮‍💨 my pelvic floor is in constant danger mode, so I don't even notice it clenching. I literally have to manually tell it to relax about every 20 seconds 😂 I didn't even know something like this could happen!

I was on the 2 years. Only a consultant can keep you on them that long, not your Gp. Think Gp can only do 6 months. I was also on hrt. They started to not work as much in the last few months. I have had to stop now though as I had a bone density scan and due to the prostap I have osteopenia which means my bones have less density. They aren’t as bad as osteoporosis but on their way. Just be aware. Luckily I have a lap booked for 6th July so only need to miss one injection now.

I was kind of thrown into the infection nd HRT so dnt really know anything at this point apart from I have them e ery 4 weeks untill my full hysterectomy ( which i dnt have a clue when is happeneing ) .. I turned up for my second appointment with my consultant and he started me on the prostap injection and HRT then and there but alot of ppl are saying to come off the HTR ? . but hope ur feeling okay nd good luck for the 6th also thank you for the reply much appreciated.

the HRT helps with the bone density thing. If I wasn’t on hrt I could be in a much worse situation now. I found the prostap really worked for about 12-18 months. It’s only recently started wearing off sooner. If you have prostap I’d definitely stay on the hrt while you are in it. I’d be in a worse state without it. Good luck.

Sorry to jump into your post but I’m on my 10th month of Prostap and have found it so good (after having it previously 10 years ago and finding it awful)

I was told that beyond 6 months I have to take hrt to continue and tried Tibolone which didn’t agree with me and was causing bleeding. Now I’m on Evorel conti and feel rubbish again.

What HRT are you all on? And what could happen if I just go without? My bone density scan was ok.

Thanks
