Hysterectomy, HRT and possible flare up

HI Ladies. So, I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis when I was about 30 years old (Im now 45). I've had 2 laproscopys, 1 laperotomy and finally a total hysterectomy when I was 40. My ovaries were completely stuck to everything else around them, major pain, also had endo on my bowel, pretty much everywhere lol.

During the hysterectomy the surgeon said he had removed 99% of the endo, possible a bit left on my bowel. I was given tibolone hrt at the time and sent on my way. All was well, until about a year ago the tibolone started giving me horrendous headaches and I had to stop taking it. My GP discussed things with my gyne and they said I was fine for estrogel. I've been using it for 2 months now. My worry is, over the last month I have developed the same kind of pains I used to get when I had ovaries!! It's around the right side of my abdomen where all my original pain was. Obviously I dont' have any ovaries any more, but I'm a bit worried that if there was even a tiny bit of endo left in there, could the estrogel have triggered it again??? I've read so many conflicting things, i just thought i'd seek a bit of advise and knowledge from you all.

Thanks for reading!!

Hi

That’s rough if you’re getting the symptoms back.

I think there is a possibility that if they left some it can kick off again. I tried to make sure they did for that reason.

I find research gate good for articles. They generally haven’t a clue for sure though.

I hope it’s just a coincidence and something short lived 🤞

There is something called ovarian remnant syndrome. If there is even a tiny bit ofovary left it can cause problems and HRT can start endo off again.Personally I would avoid any HRT. I hope it isn't anything serious and that it disappear by itself. Good luck xx
