I have a history of endometriosis and have had multiple surgeries including the bowel etc however I have never had an MRI scan for endometriosis before. My consultant has requested an MRI of my abdomen and pelvis, I have only been told to fast for 2 hours before the scan however I have read lots of places that it’s usually 4-6hours before so I am worried. I don’t know whether just to fast for longer to ensure accurate results because I am in agony and just want the scans to go well. I am due to have surgery anyway however this is to check for any further endometriosis via the scan to save me having multiple surgeries. Any pelvis mri scan preparation advice would be welcome. Thank you 😊

I was told 2 hrs and I had a contrast dye MRI. It took about 40mins and they saw recto endonvery clearly, so they know where to head for when I have surgery. MRI is very noisy but they give your earplugs and headphones so you can listen to music while it happens. I hope this helps.
thank you for replying 😊 I was told two hours but everywhere seems to say 4 that’s why I was confused. I’ve had lots of surgeries for endometriosis but not a pelvic mri before as mine has always been diagnosed via laparoscopy but hoping this way will save me multiple surgeries and just get it all sorted in the one hit as I’ve been through enough and to still be completed suffocated by pain is unbearable I’ve had enough so I’m praying this will be my last battle
