I just wanted a bit of advice. I had suffered with really heavy periods my whole life, a year ago they became very light and last 24-48 hours, I’m 39 so could be perimenopause?

I have had ’normal’ ultrasounds and I’m due to have a laparoscopy. My other symptoms are dull deep pain using tampons/after sex, sever pain and bloating with shooting pains down my left leg and across my back and hip, extreme fatigue and PMDD 11 days like clockwork before my period. I have bad flare ups and these can last weeks with 3 A&E visits last time.

I think I’ve gaslit myself into thinking it’s not endometriosis, has anyone had this? My pain is Harrogate by long periods of standing/driving and alcohol! I think after years of being ignored by doctors this isn’t surprising 😞

Thank you 💜

Hi, This does sound very much like endo, hopefully when you have the laporoscopy this will be picked up and removed. I feel for you, it will ease for you when it's been done, also ask for the Mirena coil this helps to prevent endo for some time and stops the periods too. Hope your well again soon.

thank you so much for replying, I think we start to doubt ourselves when men constantly say “it’s just painful”.

Best of luck tomorrow I hope you get some answers xx

Hi KAgwill,I'm also in my 30s and had very similar symptoms to you. I was repeatedly told that I was 'just unlucky' and that everything I was experiencing was 'normal' eventually I unfortunately believed them until last year my symptoms rapidly deteriorated and I same as you started having 3 weeks of continuing pain at a time. They gave in and offered me a lap and they found extensive endo and adhesions. Even if it isn't endo your symptoms aren't normal and need an answer. I wish you all the best with the next steps x
