Update: Yes, it is endometriosis after all.

Hi everyone! I posted here for the first time 7 months ago, straight after reading about endometriosis for the very first time. I am recovering from excision of endo last Monday now.

I still have to analyse the proper surgery report which is in Norwegian (not my native language) and quite complicated to translate, but they excised endometriosis from vesco-uterin pouch, rectovaginal fascia (?), and both the right and left side of pelvic floor wall.

Having been in the care of many gynecologists, pelvic floor specialists, sexologists, pain clinics, and psychological care over several years, no one ever even mentioned endo.

After finally finding out about endo online and this forum, the best decision I ever made was to pay for a transvaginal ultrasound with an (and I researched thoroughly) ACTUAL SPECIALIST. She could not see any DIE or cysts on the scan but diagnosed me with endo based on what she did see and how I reacted to certain areas being palpated.

I was lucky as this specialist is well connected and could see my desperation, so she referred me straight to the only hospital in Norway that -knows- endometriosis for a laparoscopy to remove endo. After 5 months on the waiting list, I got a short notice appointment because someone else cancelled.

My symptoms were/are chronic pelvic pain, painful sex (deep pain), painful periods, and abdominal pain, as well as anxiety and depression that came with the confusion and effects on my social life and relationship.

The advice is to try to get pregnant in the next 6 months if we want children in our future. And just prevent periods alltogether in the future.

I am very unsure and nervous to see what chronic pains and dyspareunia will be like after recovery. The specialist said that the pain may well be stuck in the nerves there, and it will take a significant time of therapy to get rid of the central sensitisation.

Anyway, I just wanted to write this update and express my thanks to this platform for reacting to my questions and giving me the guts to stand up to a medical team that simply doesnt know enough.
