What to expect finishing Zoladex injections - help!

Hi ladies,

I have been taking monthly Zoladex for Endo since December 2021 and around 6 weeks ago had my last injection.

The Gynae did not tell me what to really expect when I stopped having these injections, just that my period could come back within a week or take months.

The last 2 days I have had excruciating pains in my abdomen, feeling similar to period pains but with no period. Is this normal? The pain in my hips, abdo and pelvis are exactly why I needed Zoladex and I'm going to be so upset if they have come back so quickly. Unfortunately I cannot stay on Zoladex as I want to start exploring my fertility and was advised to give body a break.

I am already struggling with the pain, anyone had any similar experience or advice?

I thought zoladex was only licenced to be used for 6 months. When I stopped the injections after my surgery it took about 5-6 months for periods to come back.

As long as your bones play ball you can have it for longer, well in my NHS trust you can anyway. I was in a seriously bad way before and as I am looking to try for a baby via IVF this year, it was a way to help preserve my body (and mind) and get me strong again. Fingers crossed yesterday was a one off as cramps have eased today, I am dreading getting my period back but needs must.

Hi Spangalow, in the end how long did it take for your period to come after your last zoladex? Would you mind telling me how long you were taking zoladex for?x
