Hey there! My names Katie lovely to meet you first of all.

I have a long history so please bare with me.

I've been coping with endometriosis type symptoms since I started my pierod in year 7. I have always had pain during sex and those type symptoms so I went to the doctors in 2017 and they referred me to gynecology in which was my first encounter with my gynecologist.

He was professional and like a big friendly giant and made me feel at ease. We had a few appointments back and forth and then in 2019 we decided on surgery. A investigative lacroscopy. I was nervous but happy I was in the right hands. So 23rd December 2020 I went down for my first surgery. All was a success but no reason from him what the diagnosis was only that he had to remove 8 lessons of my fallopian tube and remove my ovaries as they was stuck to my uterine wall. I was confused and asked what the lessons were but he couldn't answer as they were not tested and i had a marina coil inserted.

Slowly losing faith in my doctor I saw him again on MAY 2021 and he went through things with me about what he had done during surgery but no closer to finding out what was the cause or treatment but he removed my coil and signed me off.

Then I started getting AGONISING pain in my left hand groin. I can't tell you how bad the pain was. I was in and out off A&E with UTI's and endometriosis pain. No one was listening (a&e staff were and are horrendous)

I was finally after all this fighting over 2 months I got an ultrasound scan to show my fallopian tube on the left hand side was swollen to 7cm and I needed surgery again.

So I got rushed down for surgery in which I woke up to a hug from him and about 30 people around me. I asked what was going on and I'd been in the prep room of the surgery room dying for 2 hours because they gave me a drug I was allergic too.

After this all happening I went down for surgery again at the end June 2022 and had my fallopian tube removed due to how swollen and painful it was but other than that I have no idea what else happened or why it happened.

I don't have faith in any doctor after all of this...

Its caused medial PTSD in me and I'm terrified to be around children now, scared off doctors, scared of hospitals. I just don't know how to cope can anyone help me?

Thankyou

Katie xx

Hi Katie

A really warm welcome to the forum. We're so sorry to hear you had to go through all this, and that you're struggling to cope. You can find some really good information about PTSD on the Mind website (mind.org.uk) including possible treatment routes.

If you feel able to, it may also be worth contacting PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) to discuss your experiences and either lodging a formal complaint, or finding out how to access treatment for your PTSD.

As well as our forum, we also have a free confidential helpline (0808 808 2227) that is open most days. It's run by volunteers who all have personal experience of endometriosis and the times it is open can be found here: endometriosis-uk.org/helpline. Please do reach out, whenever you need to.

We also have face to face support groups all over the UK, where you can discuss the issues you are experiencing with other endometriosis sufferers. To see if there's one in your area, visit endometriosis-uk.org/find-a...

Take care - hope some of the above helps x

Ask The Gynecologist to refer you to Medical Psychology, on the basis of your age and ability to have children. Waiting lists are very long. But they have been excellent with my medical trauma and C-PTSD.

Do write to PALS and ask to be referred to Medical Paychology here also.

I’m very sad to hear of this utter nonsense from the awful situation of Drs/Medics/hospitals.

The Endometriosis.UK helpline is really helpful also, the people are excellent!

Hi

If you haven’t already request a copy of your records from the hospital. Once you’ve got these you can email Gynae sec with any questions. Just because they think they’ve discharged you, they will answer questions. It’s obvious there is still something wrong. Are you still getting pain?

Your GP needs to do full bloods with hormones, thyroid, vit D, Bs, magnesium and cortisol (stress factor) there’s a chance that if your hormonal system is unbalanced that’s making you feel emotional.

We go through a lot with this condition and a GP just saying antidepressants would be a failure on their part. It’s important to get a clear picture for your benefit if it’s physical, psychological or both.

Not sure if this helps.
