ESR??

Hi,

I am hoping someone could give me some advice.

I have thought I may have endometriosis for a long time as my periods are ridiculously painful and I bleed very heavily.

My blood work has shown elevated ESR levels for the last two years. No apparent cause. My CRP is also slightly elevated.

I have hypothyroidism, so I originally put it down to that. The GP now believes it could be ruematoid as my hands and feet ache, but could it be endo?z

The aches in my feet are worse on my period.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hello

I finally got diagnosed in May 2020 with severe endo & fibroids after 20+ years of horrific pain & heavy bleeding.

Just over a year later, out of nowhere, I had a seriously severe attack to my joints, & just diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

I am certain that these two life long conditions are related, but because there isn’t enough research & evidence to confirm this, the consultants aren’t allowed to comment. My consultant just said ‘they could be’.

So… you could be extremely lucky like me, & who knows how many people, & have both conditions.

I feel your pain!

Keep bugging your GP. Get them to refer you to an endo specialist & a rheumatologist.

Good luck 🤞 x

Hi I know nothing about CRP and ESR sorry I can’t help in that regard. I just wanted to say, if you think you may have endo, please do actually say that to your GP. Request to be checked for that specifically. Even once I’d said the E word at an appointment, it was still a slog to be taken seriously and now I have complex endometriosis diagnosis years down the line. Please don’t let them make you feel like a hypochondriac, ask the question. All the best. I hope someone with knowledge can answer your original Q.

Than you for the replies.

I have seen the GP today and they said endo is very difficult to diagnose and the inflammation markers are more likely to be due to my underactive thyroid or rheumatoid. If RA test comes back negative, she has agreed to investigate endo.
