Supplements for endometriosis

Hello all,

I wondered if anyone has had success in taking specific supplements to help with symptoms (or return of endometriosis flowing surgery). I regularly take multivitamins but know there are more endo-specific supplements out there. Any success? Xx

Hi Lilsliwka,

So I find the following great.

Turmeric

Omega 3

(Both great for anti inflammatory

Magnesium spray which I spray on and it help aches

A good Vitamin B complex. They really help you feel less tired.

Probiotics (great for the gut) kefir yogurt or a good quality probiotic supplement.

Serrapeptase which you have to take separately a few hours besides eating and drinking on its own, so best at night before bed....it dissolves adhesions and scar tissue and is amazing....I take the 80,000iu

Also cbd oil , helps with aches, get a full spectrum one as it has all the good part of the plant in and is great to use as it has no thc in it so is great.

And finally I would say diet is sooo important. I eliminated gluten and was so much less bloated, I try and stick to gluten free as much as possible.

Hope this helps.

Xxx

Apologies for this length but hope this is useful birds eye view for you. A systematic approach is helpful. As a practitioner I looked at myself as my basket case client and went from there 🤓 Each of us are so individual. Key here was for me to go gently. That said there are some points in common to endo or other chronic inflammation. Endo frequently comes with gut issues from the inflammation causing the tissue to become leaky. ( This means stuff gets into the bloodstream that shouldn’t and the irritated tissue is just super sensitive to things it’s not actually really allergic or intolerant of for a time. ) Sometimes putting helpful supplements in before the gut is healed enough can irritate and cause aggravating reactions which can be avoided by doing enough gut repair beforehand. So I staged it to enable my gut time to begin the healing.

Taking out foods that we are intolerant of is part of the key in that first stage. At the same time being mindful of keeping as broad healthy diet as you can. Common go to issues to trial are gluten, lactase and eggs. (The older you are the more likely lactase maybe an issue as well ) There’s lots of info out there on how to test / trial these changes. Don’t remove unless there’s an issue and avoiding doing it all at once in mad rush as it can be stressful - we need to nurture our mental health. Too much food restricting can bring it’s own problems 😳 and each of us are different.

Supplements I always go for the purest at dose i can manage ! There’s lots of sub standard stuff out there to avoid some having such tiny doses to be useless or in fact not at all …(You might have a helpful local practitioner who might be able to give you a steer. ) Inalways aim for the lowest possible dose to achieve change instead of going bonkers. I used Omega 3 to heal my gut (with both DHA & AHA ) for 3 months before touching any much else apart from Vit C and drank a lot of water every day ( 3 litres although was recommended to do 4 - I couldn’t sustain that !) Some try things like inulin or glutathione products that are marketed as pre biotics , but they weren’t for me.

After 3 months, ontop of the Omega 3 , I put in a long course of really good probiotics , Reservatoral, protolytic enzymes including Serrapeptase, Levagen for MAST cell issues, gut problems and pain, B Complex and Berberine ( a five week initial course and to be repeated later ) I used milk thistle before the Berberine to support the liver but as they both do the same job will drop it … I have powdered Chorella which helps carry out toxins is rich in Magnesium and micro minerals. Pain and bloating flares (and in first 3 months )I use castor oil packs and Epsom salt baths / footbaths.

Supplements take time to really get to work so I didn’t expect to see significant change until after 3 months. I have tried other things like the Turmeric ( make sure this is a bioavailable form) , NAC but they really weren’t for me so stopped those. I know others have found huge relief with them so it really is about understanding your self and symptoms ! We are such unique beings and before putting anything in I always ask is this overload or is the job already been done by something I know works already - rather than hopping from one thing to another . It’s all too easy when we feel desperate to be like a demented bunny .

Everything have included has had significant studies as to efficacy and high safety standard. I always triple check on whether there’s any contraindications with any meds or health conditions- most pharmacists will be be able to assist if you’ve a specific query here. I’ve worked out from family health tendencies and my own challenges that dealing with Klebiesella bacteria and LPS , herpes ( shingles) is key to managing underlying immune problems that fuel my inflammation and endo. These are known associated promotors of endo and Adenomyosis in more recent research . This is a complex disease process and there are no instant magic bullets sadly.

Baseline here is once the gut starts to heal then our gut is better able to take what we need from food instead of having to rely on top ups from supplements. Omega 3, Reservatoral and Berberine , Serrapeptase however are there for lesions, tissue health , shingles as well as anti inflammation and can imagine they’ll be part of a long protocol. There’s alot of suggestions out there that Vit C alone is super helpful if budgets are pressed. Stress can significantly upset things so sleep , stress management and gentle exercise are key to healthy gut for me and a way to ensure I get my regular dose of Vit D. I hope this might give you a little insight in how to find your key helpers . Each of us has our own combo that puts our rubix cube together 😍. The simpler the better for a long term maintenance programme but to get to that maybe a little more convoluted. Some people prefer to get the guidance of a professional to help with the gut healing and bacterial/viral screening first.

Hi,

I've found gluten free diet halved my pain by 50% and I find turmeric really helpful too. I have turmeric tea and was recently recommended devils claw and raspberry tea but not sure if they work yet as still trying them x

Hi

Yes I have . I take NAC, Serrapeptase, Agnus Castus and also spearmint supplements.

When I fist took the serrapeptase after a month I saw big improvement, the Agnus Castus has helped with things as well and the NAC has definitely helped my pain

Bromelain has also helped with inflammation and pain

I take one of all the above daily apart from the serrapeptase which I take at night
