Went for my lap yesterday. Was given the all clear but what im concerned about is that ive been discharged from gynaecology.
Just because my lap was negative, doesnt mean there isnt something else gynaconolgical going on. Why would they discharge me without futher investigations?
Im not unhappy with the result. If anything im glad. But where is my pain coming from?
I have a full MRI of my spine coming up as im under rhumatology too so maybe that will find a source of the pain but when the pain is in my vagina and i swear, i can feel ovary pain and fizzing-this seems highly unlikely to me. I don't have periods as im on degeserol and the few break through bleeds I have had, have been black blood but dont suffer anymore with horrendous period pain (game changer)
Should i call gynaecology again to see why i was discharged? Getting a referral takes sooooo much time. I dont want another lap or anything, just maybe some other investigations from a department that knows a little more than the GP!!!
What are your thoughts.

Was your lap done by a specialist? I've read many many stories of endo being missed by inexperienced gynaes! Lots of posts on here of ladies who had a clear lap the first time and then when they had it later with a specialist it was found. The crap part is that you're only entitled to see an NHS specialist in limited circumstances, but a general gynae may not have the knowledge needed to fully deal with it. Really sucks! We desperately need more specialists so more of us can access one without the need to have either severe symptoms where primary care has failed, or actual severe endometriosis is suspected. But yeah, deep breaths. I was under rheumatology for many years myself, they suspected lupus from 21 to around 28! They may be able to get you into a decent pain clinic if that would be useful to you? Maybe help with the pain while you try figure out the cause? Xxx
Sorry love, I understand the frustration. I finally had a lap this month by a good specialist that came back negative. I was convinced I had bowel endo but now I don't know what in the world is causing my pain. Sorry I don't have much help, I'd say pursue every route you can, gyn and other. Push for both now instead of one at a time since its all such a slow process. I don't know much about the UK health system tho, sorry if what I said doesn't make sense. I hope you can find some answers 💕
Hi lovely, so mine was the other way round. I saw urology, rheumatologist and then after 2 clear MRI on my spine & seeing a orthopaedic specialist I ended up at gynae. Because I’m on cerazette I hadn’t had periods for 7 years as all this back, bladder and abdo pain intensified. I came off the pill which is when everything linked up and only after demanding a lap he carried one out.
Yesterday he said he found (what he thinks) is endo, and took a biopsy, on my bladder.
He then said it’s all fine - gee thanks! & just to await a letter. Zero next steps, zero clue on what to expect next.
Im under pain management but the pain meds don’t touch the sides. But worth a shot for you if you’re struggling! Rheumatology referred me there.
When you have your MRI I would ask for a pelvic MRI in addition to the Spine.
I hope that helps you, just push on - it’s your body you know when something isn’t right!
