Endo Near Ureter?

I had a diagnostic lap yesterday and finally have been diagnosed with Endo. From what I remember the surgeon saying (I was still very much out of it) is that spots of it were found by my ureter and it couldn’t be removed because it was too risky.

What are the next steps typically? Would it be surgery to remove that Endo but through a multi-disciplinary approach?

I’ve requested my op notes to get a better idea of what was seen in my op as not much was said, nor is there much on my discharge note.

Hi Lofty, how you feeling today? Has your gyne arranged a post op appointment? This is usually 3-6 months after the surgery, gives your body time to heal and see how your symptoms are. This will be the chance to ask them what the next steps are :) I wouldn't want to comment on if they will do further surgery, because I'm not medically trained. I do know that sometimes they do need a multi discipline team to deal with more complex endo, but also sometimes they simply can't remove some endo because it would be too risky to the organ. Only your gyne can answer that really, give yourself a few weeks to heal and then push for the next steps xxx

Thank you for your reply! I won’t lie, I’m feeling rather sore! The gas pain hit me immediately which I wasn’t happy about and hasn’t entirely left yet but seems to be getting better. My incisions just keep getting more sore though, I think it’s because I’m trying to carefully move around. I was told I’ll be having a follow up in 3 months so just have to wait for that appointment to come through now, I guess!

Do you have any peppermint for the gas pain? I used peppermint tea and some soft mints and chewing gum too, any mint will be helpful. It releases the gas :) that gas pain is awful isn't it!

Moving around carefully is actually a good thing as it encourages your body to heal faster, obviously no bending or lifting or full on walking lol but moving around and going to the toilet etc is good for you. If they are too sore then double check you don't have an infection love, if you do it will be red and swollen around the incision and may smell or have some oozing. I found getting a shower on day 3 really helped! I'm over 2 weeks now and moving much better, so hang in there. But if pain is getting worse daily you might want to call the hospital ward and see if youve had an infection develop xxx
