second opinion from specialist confirmed endometriosis

after reviewing the images from laparoscopy 3 weeks ago, specialist has confirmed that he can see severe endometriosis and that I will need the laparoscopy again to remove it. I’ve advised I’m not quite ready to go through the procedure again just yet, so he has referred me back to my GP to arrange the pre-menopausal injections for 6 months to see if that helps me, but advises the best way is to do the laparoscopy and have the endo removed. A big feeling of relief to finally be diagnosed, but I will be going back to the gynaecologist with this information, after paying for my laparoscopy privately, to be told my uterus and ovaries were “text book” and nothing was wrong and was referring me back to my GP to see a bowel specialist. Lesson learned, make sure you see a specialist x

Hey, just read this after posting today.

Had a laparoscopy last year where they removed a couple of small endo lesions and discharged me back to my GP. The MRI I’d had before the lap showed nodularity all over my peritoneal cavity though and cysts in the uterus.

My GP referred me to the specialist team in Manchester instead. They think the MRI shows potential deep infiltrating endometriosis and also adenomyosis too. I don’t know what will happen now. All I know is I’m really not well and feel like help might be taken away at any point because I’ve had a laparoscopy and as far as the results of that are concerned Im cured.

Frightened but reading this made me feel like it’s possible for it to be missed in surgery. Xx

Hey, thank you for sharing.

Sorry to hear you’re still going through it all too.

Yeah the specialist looked through my photos taken in the laparoscopy and shown me where the endo was, and advised it was quite severe.

I have been referred back to GP for the injections, however this gynaecologist who told me nothing was wrong on my follow up appointment, actually wrote a letter to my GP on the day of my surgery with his concerns of my bowel and advised it may be IBS.. because the GP hadn’t received the letter from the specialist at this point, even though I shown it to her she wouldn’t discuss endo with me.

It really is a battle and a half, but having so many ladies to speak to, fighting the same battle makes it a little more bearable xx

It really is a constant battle to be heard and treated appropriately. Fingers crossed for a more clear cut treatment plan and better health in the future for both of us. Xx
